BIOGRAPHY

PABLO LUCKER

Early years and education

Pablo Lücker (Roermond, 1985) is an autonomous contemporary artist who is best known for his iconic visual handwriting. Lücker is the seventh generation artist in his family. The year his parents met, the same year as a true icon died: Lücker’s name thus is a tribute to Pablo Picasso. The young Pablo Lücker would draw well before he could write - he has been picking up his pencils since the age of 3. He now makes paintings, sculptures and prints. His art can be perceived as visual storytelling about childhood dreams, current ambitions and future aspirations. He graduated from the prestigious Design Academy in 2008, specializing in Brand Building and Art Direction. Lücker lives and works out of Amsterdam, Netherlands, but frequently works on international projects, both private and commercial.

USPs and Recognition

Lücker isn’t afraid to show some positive provocation in his work. He dares to link his art to strong brands he believes in and he doesn’t shy away from integrating tech in art either. Lücker is one of the only Dutch artists to integrate NFT* Blockchain technique into his work. *non-fungible tokens; a digital proof of authenticity that brings the owner a non-exchangeable digital art piece

Beliefs and Philosophy

Strongly convinced of the belief that part of being a contemporary artist entails that you follow contemporary developments, Lücker paves the way making bold moves. The Dutch-born artist isn’t afraid to question the norm: art and commerce can’t go together? Sure they can. Art is meant to be physical, not digital? He will prove otherwise. Art, after all, is made to inspire people and make them think. Lücker: “I want people to start dreaming again. I believe art should bring an escape from daily reality. I believe visualizing something is the first step to achieving exactly that. I hope to inspire people to achieve goals they could previously only imagine. A lot of my work reflects my childhood thoughts and dreams. That being said, through my art, I encourage the beholder to stay in touch with their inner child – just reinvent that mindset of limitless dreams and fantasies to step back into a world in which everything is possible.”

Career

Pablo Lücker’s first solo exhibition took place in the middle of the iconic Vondelpark in central Amsterdam. Lücker’s signature handwriting can be read universally, however, and as such, his art gained international recognition with shows ranging to even China and Dubai.

Before focussing fulltime on his art, Pablo Lücker had a career as a DJ. It is in his blood to build up something authentic that was totally his, hence he eventually chose to fully commit and focus only on his art. His musical background however lead to him not only designing, but also handing out the award for World’s Number One DJ to Martin Garrix in 2016.

In 2020, he was asked to do the redecoration of the UBER HQ, which turned out to be a visual translation of UBER’s values and the identities of their staff.

In 2021, the artist shut down his Instagram page with 143k following as a provocative statement about social rebirth. This initiative came with a matching artwork and was featured in leading media outlets. Lücker has now opened his own gallery on the Keizersgracht, one of the most prestigious canals in Amsterdam.

Lücker: “Art enables me to pronounce my dreams and feelings. I see art as a language I can use to speak to people’s imagination. Thoughts come into my brain, get channeled through my heart and come out through my hands. This is how I invented the baseline to my signature style: The Dream Script. In an era that increasingly digitizes, we see visual matters becoming more and more important. Video has become one of the most important outlets, newspapers even use editorials and just plain text has moved to the background. My artwork caters to exactly that type of crowd: a crowd that appreciates visual handwriting.” Lücker makes use of all modern techniques: art filters, 3D printing, NFTs; he is a multi-disciplinary artist who likes to explore rather than just commit to one thing.

Future

Pablo Lücker plans on remaining on the forefront of innovation, deepening his relationship with the Blockchain world, promoting NFT art whilst travelling the world with his signature personal handwriting. Lucker hopes to modernize and innovate the art world as he combines autonomous and digital work.
